These pieces have been crafted from graded rosewood and boxwood by one of the world’s finest chess piece manufacturers. Unlike cheaper copies of this design, these are fine examples of the original article. Each piece is double weighted, polished to perfection and with a felted base.
The knights have a slightly somber expression, neat little ears and a fine set of teeth. The overall design of this chess set echoes the classic Staunton lines without making attempts to create anything too unique or striking. The chess board in this set has been expertly crafted by Rechapados Ferrer in Spain using precision laser cutting techniques and stunning wooden veneers combined with expert lacquering and finishing. The underside of the board is finished in a satin veneer that is a different colour from the playing surface of the board. The veneers used for the underside may vary in colour from batch to batch.
